That first year of your baby’s life, I remember it so fondly… the drool, the eyes filled with wonder, the many trips to Home Depot to bolt down everything in the house, fun times :-) As cliche as it sounds, they really do grow SO quickly, you have to relish every precious moment. It was the most gorgeous Spring afternoon for this little birthday girl’s photo session, the sun thankfully has finally made it’s comeback. Isn’t she just the cutest thing you have ever seen?? So Happy 1st Birthday Miss A!

Project 52 {Week 11} Color!

As you probably know, I am participating in a weekly photo project with about 20 other fabulous photographers from all around the world, from The Bloom Forum. Some of the past themes include DOF, nature, texture, and food.
This week is one of my favorites- Color! We had to have a little indoor fun this time around- since we got about 84 inches of rain this week (exaggerating a little, but isn’t that what we Californians do the best, exaggerate about the weather?) anyways, I decided since it was just the Z man and me, I would combine my favorite color (aqua) with his favorite thing (sugar). Oh who am I kidding I totally had to bribe him with the cupcakes ;-)

Project 52 {Week 10} Nature

This week in our 52 group the theme is “nature”, which happens to be one of my favorite subjects. I have always had such a love and admiration for all the wonderful creations around us. One of our favorite places to enjoy a little taste of nature is at a local park with a man-made lake here in Santa Barbara-so many little critters to see, fresh air, a few planes flying overhead, and lots of blue sky :-)

Sunflare {I Heart Faces}

It has been a while since I participated in the I Heart Faces weekly photo challenge, but the theme is “sunflare” and I certainly had enough sun-flare shots I could share, so here it is – a perfect Santa Barbara sunset, with flare :-) Be sure to check out the other sunflare entries this week!






Project 52 {Week 9} DOF

This week for the 52 project the theme is “DOF”, or depth of field. So I am demonstrating a very small DOF, which creates great bokeh. For all you non-photogs out there, bokeh is the subjective aesthetic quality of the out of focus area of an image. Bokeh can be described as circular, dreamy, painterly, creamy, and I have even referred to it as juicy.
I am a bokeh lover for sure, so this week it was hard to decide on just one bokelicious image to share- so here you have the Z’s the Day Bokehlection~ (I just made up that word, bokeh+collection, get it???.. oh never mind)

If you haven’t heard already, I am participating in a themed 52 week challenge with 20 or so other amazing photographers from around the world. We all do this over at the Bloom Forum. Next in the DOF circle this week, is the fabulous Jobrina Hofleit, a Goodyear, AZ photographer.
