52 Project {Week 7} Texture
I love a good texture- especially on one of my nature shots. This week for the 52 project with my fellow Bloomies the theme is “Texture”, so here you have one of my butterfly images, enhanced with a couple textures- one being my own “golden bokeh shower” texture that I had on Flickr a couple years ago, I shared it as a free texture, and it was downloaded about 20K times! Want to play with it too? click on the link below the image to download it!
I know all the photos from this week’s theme will be so creative, as everyone will interpret it differently! Make sure you do the full circle, starting with Michigan Photographer Brandie Pahl (oh and we love comments!)

Download the texture here!
and if you would like to share what you did with it on my fan page here that would be great!
52 Project {Week 6} Headless
Okay I admit- we really can’t complain about any inclement weather here in sunny CA. But when the forecast called for rain we armed ourselves with the cute froggy umbrella (from Micheal’s ~thanks Nana!) and green one-size-too-big rain boots and headed for the beautiful Santa Barbara Botanic Garden in hopes of finding some mud puddles, sprinkles and even a few colorful Spring blossoms. Mother nature did not disappoint- and the Z man can proudly say his green rain-boots have been officially broken in with plenty o’ mud spattering… (they are still a size too big, but I digress)
This leads us up to the 52 project theme of the week- Headless. Over at The Bloom Forum (which is a fantastic forum for photographers, I highly recommend it) our group of 20 had the daunting task of “telling a story from bottom” ![]()
So there you have it- my little guy in all his crown and glory, relishing in a little rainy day fun. Ahhh the simple things in life, right? So I leave you with a little 52 challenge of your own- get out there this weekend, and enjoy something “simple”, something that makes you smile. Pancakes with the kids Sunday morning. A walk on the beach. A snowball fight. Just do it. Don’t forget the camera.

(okay and I can’t resist one of this cute face) ![]()

52 Project {Week 5} Food
Ahhh, Superbowl Sunday. The game. The men in tight uniforms. The halftime show. The commercials. And oh yes- my favorite of them all, the FOOD. As I mentioned last week, I am participating in a 52 project with 21 other fabulous photographers from The Bloom Forum, AKA our “circle of bloomies”, and the theme this week happens to be one of the best ever- FOOD!. This is a little taste (ha ha excuse the pun) of our Superbowl feast we shared with our great friends, the Bradways…. which included my famous Sriracha sweet & spicy popcorn, veggie crudites with ranch dip, panko chicken tenders with Asian dipping sauce, fresh chips and guacamole, fist-size giant meatballs, bellinis, and Red Stripe beers!
whewww! yummo! Of course I had to photograph them with a little Z’s the Day style
Make sure you do the rounds!- visit Megan Wold Photography to see what “food” she has to share, then click on the link after hers, until you have come to a full food circle!
anyone hungry??

{Santa Barbara Baby Photos} Aware of the World
“Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” ~Elizabeth Stone
I don’t know what it is about newborn baby boys I photograph, they always seem to be so alert, with big sparkling eyes! At a mere 7 days old sweet little Taj was no exception, with his baby blues that matched the gorgeous ocean themed decor of his nursery. We even had a little photo session “impostor” of the canine variety, Taj’s Mommy and Daddy’s first child
Show this brand new awesome family some blog love, every comment gets them a print credit!!

52 Project {Week 4} I Love Faces
Big sisters are the crab grass in the lawn of life. ~Charles M. Schulz
I just joined a fabulous online group of photographers and will be participating in a 52 week project, with different themes that I will be posting on Fridays. This week’s theme is “I Love Faces”, and what better way to celebrate the theme than with two gorgeous sisters
Be sure you head over to the blog of super talented Megan Wold, a photographer from North Dakota to see her ” I Love Faces” entry as well, I know it will be a fantastic one!
