{Santa Barbara Party Photographer} Innocent Wonder

This photo never fails to make me laugh, no matter how many times I see it. When I saw this week’s theme at I Heart Faces was “Innocent Wonder”, I knew this would be the one I had to use. I think I would give anything to know what this little guy was thinking at that moment, was it- “I wonder if she’s going to finish that?” or “Does she know she has ice cream dripping down her hand?” :-) Either way, his look paired with her “Don’t even think about it” expression makes this image one of my favorite candid shots ever. Be sure to check out all the other great entries this week at

{Santa Barbara Photography} Zoo Days

We just love the Santa Barbara Zoo- we have a family membership so we make sure to go at least once a month. But I realized with the holidays and the poopy weather we had for a while- it had been months since or last visit. Today the weather was perfect, so we went for some zoo fun. :-)

{Santa Barbara Child Photography} Smiles

I have to admit it- it is really hard for me to capture a true smile from my own child. Other people’s children- No problem! But my son I’m sure has started thinking that his mother is growing a larger than life black metal object out of her face, thus making those priceless jubilant grins a little tricky. For example- this sweet moment was captured by me pretending I was taking a picture of our cat. Doesn’t it look like the cat is smiling too? too bad he didn’t anticipate the bath of his own he would get when Z decided he was a little dirty as well. Please take a look see at all the other “Smiles” this week at I Heart Faces, happiness awaits.

{Santa Barbara Photographer} Down on the Farm

Some of you may remember my post about the Fourth of July, and the Blueberry Farm that our friends live on. Well, we were lucky enough to bring in the new year with a visit up to see them again, now that their baby chicks have grown, and have had the addition of a new doggy and piggy :-) . I just love this life, living off the land, having fresh eggs, even an occasional cock-a-doodle-do from the roosters (okay maybe more than occasional they will attest).
Being there is a great reminder, especially for the new year- to slow down, enjoy the simple things in life, and don’t sweat the small stuff. And most of all, to continue photographing things that I love, to not always worry about the “business” part of my job, just capture those moments that bring me the most joy. :-)

Best Face 0f 2010 {I Heart Faces}

I had such a fun time picking my top 10 favorite images from 2010 in my last blog post. And even though I’ve photographed the many amazing, beautiful faces of clients in the past year, when I saw that this weeks theme at I Heart Faces was “Best Face Photo from 2010″, I had to go with the most amazing face of all- the face of my beautiful son Z, who has not only been my muse and inspiration, but the reason why I even picked up a camera in the first place. My business is named after him, and my life revolves around him. My joy. My love. My “perfect” face of 2010 and beyond.. always.
I’m sure there will be hundreds of stunning faces of 2010. Be sure to head over to see them all. And have a great 2011 :-)
