{Santa Barbara Event Photographer} The first Gay Day at the Santa Barbara Zoo!

I had the pleasure of attending the very first Gay Day at the gorgeous Santa Barbara Zoo the other night, and it was a blast! for those of you who have never been to the Santa Barbara Zoo, you just couldn’t ask for a better location, I mean what other zoo has sprawling views of the Pacific Ocean, peeking over the tops of the giraffe’s heads?? This was a benefit to not only the zoo but the Pacific Pride Foundation, featuring drag shows, a cocktail area, DJs and dancing! One of the performers was my dear friend Salvatore AKA BellaDonna. You really haven’t seen a drag performance until you’ve seen one of his, he puts so much love and time into not only his number, but his handcrafted outfits as well :-)

{Santa Barbara Baby Photography}The Good Neighbors

How lucky we are to have neighbors we actually like and get along with. I remember 5 years ago when we were told people would be moving into the duplex next door, the sheer panic that ran through my head.  What if they were loud, obnoxious college students??  what if it was a family of 6 with lots of screaming kids??  I mean, this IS  Santa Barbara, and most of us are not blessed enough to live on a vast 5 acre plot of land!  we are talking close quarters..  Chris and I were tickled to discover a fun, mellow couple were the ones we would be sharing a wall with.  John and Tessa have turned out to be not just great neighbors but friends as well.  We saw them get married, and now have a beautiful baby girl as well.  Last year after I took up photography, they were kind enough to let me use their two lovely daughters as models for some portfolio building photos.  Now their baby girl is about to turn one, and it is so fun to compare her pics now to those I did when she was just a wee little thing, and I am sharing some before and afters with you.

and from last week-

We’ve gotten to grow together, her in life, and me in photography!  Thanks John and Tessa! :-)
