Tidepool Eyes {Santa Barbara Family Photographer}

Posted on August 26, 2010

I know what you’re thinking, this is a bit more than just a sneak peek :-) When faced with the daunting task of choosing a few shots from this amazing session to blog, I knew it would be no easy feat- pretty impossible in fact. I had so much fun with this little family, they were up for anything, and so laid back and sweet they made my job easy- we crammed 4 locations in our time together, and they never skipped a beat. Can you believe how gorgeous little “W’s” eyes are??? Reminds me of the brilliant aqua tide-pools I posted here! I guess he has great genes, because, look at Mom and Dad !

Show this family some blog love! For every comment, they will receive a $1 print credit :-)

Beach Fun {I Heart Faces} Santa Barbara Child Photographer

Posted on August 22, 2010

When I saw that the theme this week at I Heart Faces was Beach Fun, I knew I would have quite a few photos to choose from, seeing that we live on the beach. In the past years, I have accumulated hundreds of photos of my own child, as well as clients children frolicking in the white Pacific sand. However it was this photograph of my son on the pier that really stood out to me- it is just such a typical indication of his inquisitive nature, that made him jump up with this lone fisherman, and make himself at home :-) Head over to I Heart Faces for more beachy entries.

Newborn Love {Santa Barbara Newborn Photographer}

Posted on August 16, 2010

Well, here it is, my first “official” newborn session, and I couldn’t have asked for a better baby boy to work with, he took a little coaxing into slumber-land, but once he was there, oh my! those lips, that perfect skin, it really doesn’t get any better. And when he was awake, he was AWAKE! :-) super cute and alert for a mere 14 days old. I know this precious baby {C} was a wonderful blessing, especially for his rockin’, ass kicking, breast cancer survivor Mama. Congratulations to {B} & {M}, this little boy will amaze you and change your life forever…
This lucky couple will get $1 credit for every comment on this post, so show them some love! :-)

This session also gave me the chance to try out a new action a fellow photographer and friend created, it was great for drawing the attention to this sweetie’s gorgeous face, you can find it here (it’s FREE!) Thanks D! XOXO

Up the Coast {Santa Barbara Photographer}

Posted on August 9, 2010

Sometimes getting away with your family, even if it’s just for a few days, can really rejuvenate the soul. We just returned from a little jaunt up the coast of California, with stops in Big Sur, Carmel, and Monterey. We had a blast, Ziah loved the aquarium, Cannery Row (especially the candy shop!) and the gorgeous white sand beaches along the way. Hubby needed a bib when we did the famous 17 mile drive, and stopped in Pebble Beach. Here are a few snaps of our fun trip :-)

Purple {I Heart Faces} Santa Barbara Portrait Photographer

Posted on July 25, 2010

I admit it- when I heard the theme this week at I Heart Faces was “purple”, I knew my favorite purple hat had to make an appearance. Don’t get me wrong- I hate self portraits, I don’t even like being in front of the camera at all. I despise it, actually. But I got to thinking, that ever since my love of photography began, I was taking more and more photos of other people, and was in photos so much less, a lot less, I’m going to be 37 in a couple months, and in fact I probably have 2-3 pics in the last few years of myself that I would ever let the public see. That’s sad isn’t it? Especially since in my younger years, I had a bazillion pictures of myself. What has changed??? more wrinkles? a few extra pounds?? what, as mothers especially, stops us from wanting to have our pictures taken?? It’s time to make a change- and to you other Mom/Photographers out there, you know what I mean, pick up that camera, whether you dust off that tripod and put it on a timer, or have your significant other help you out, lets see those selfies! I can’t believe how many photographers I have as friends on Facebook, and have no idea what they look like!
As I sit and reminisce about my childhood, and those memories of going through the old family albums, gazing at my Mom and Dad when they were younger- do I ever think- gee, my Mom looks a little frumpy there, or, Wow! my Dad went gray early.. No, of course not, we only are filled with joy, and happiness when seeing those images. The same way I want my son to feel, when he gets older, and finds images of his silly Mom and her selfies, done in the name of an I Heart Faces theme. :-)
